Three due in court on mob assault charges

Three Stafford County men accused in a July 19 mob assault and alleged pistol-whipping at the Depot are due in court today.

Antwain J. Morehead, 20, and John Q. Richardson, 19, each face two charges of felony assault by mob and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

The third person, Hershel A. Thurman, 18, is expected to appear in Circuit Court for a bond hearing stemming from two charges of felony assault by mob. All three are on the 9:30 a.m. docket.

A fourth person accused in the incident, Tierre Jamal Smith, 20, is set to appear in court Sept. 24 on answer two felony assault by mob charges.

Three people were injured in the incident. According to a police report, officers say they were called to the scene around 2 a.m. for a report of a group of men chasing someone down the railroad tracks. When officers arrived, they say one of the victims, a 16-year-old, told police that he was kicked and beaten when he fell while attempting to flee a group of about 15 people.

This judge better give these kids full punishment!  I’m so sick and tired of people just getting a slap on the wrist, it only tells other’s it’s ok to break the law.
