A Culpeper teen accused of involvement in a large fight last summer that left three people injured is set to return to court Monday.
A jury will decide the case of Joshua Ravenel, 18. He faces a felony malicious wounding charge and two counts of misdemeanor assault. Ravenel entered a not guilty plea in Circuit Court in October.
Police and prosecutors say Ravenel and four other teens were involved in a July 4 fight that broke out in Yowell Meadow Park and spread to nearby Virginia Avenue.
Two of the teens — Michael Reaves, 18, and Arneillus Penn, 18 — entered plea deals in February. Jordan Ravenel, 17 was found guilty in January and sentenced March 24. All three received an “indeterminate period of commitment” to the Department of Juvenile Justice on the felony charges, a sentence that could keep them in jail until age 21. The fifth teen, Spicy Penn, 17 entered a not guilty plea last month. His trial is set for Aug. 11.
