Media General shareholders today elected three new directors nominated by a dissident hedge fund seeking changes at the media company.
The company’s Class A shareholders voted on the slate at Media General’s annual meeting this morning. The vote total was not immediately available, and was to be tallied over the next few days. The results are preliminary.
Harbinger Capital Partners announced plans in January to nominate the directors.
The newspaper publisher and television station operator had opposed the actions and questioned the nominees’ experience and the investment group’s long-term plan to improve profitability.
Elected were:
Eugene I. Davis, chairman and chief executive officer of Pirinate Consulting Group LLC, a privately owned consulting firm;
F. Jack Liebau Jr., president of Liebau Asset Management Co.
J. Daniel Sullivan, a private consultant and former broadcasting industry executive
