A Culpeper County grand jury returned eight felony indictments Monday against a 30-year-old local man who reportedly struck two vehicles with a Jeep Laredo last November and assaulted local law enforcement using an electroshock weapon.
Arithciaca Gourdine, who is out on bond, is scheduled to appear in Circuit Court May 7 at 9:30 a.m. for arraignment.
Gourdine, who uses the alias Mandrel Cottoms, reportedly hit two cars on Birch Road and left the scene of the incident, according to Lt. Chris Settle of the Culpeper Police Department.
Minutes later, police caught up with Gourdine on Orange Road where they arrested him before he escaped from a rear window of one of the cruisers.
Once authorities caught up with Gourdine again, he apparently put up a fight, grabbed an electroshock device and zapped four officers and a police dog before being subdued.
