The case of a former councilman accused of felony embezzlement has been continued for a fifth time.
David A. Martin, 59, a Culpeper Town Council member from 1984 to 2000, was set to appear in General District Court Thursday afternoon. However, the case is now set to return to court on Sept. 17 at 3 p.m. Martin also faces five misdemeanor charges of failing to file tax returns.
According to the Virginia State Police, the felony charges stem from incidents in 2006 that were connected with Martin’s Culpeper insurance business. The amount Martin is accused of mishandling has not been disclosed.
Greene County Commonwealth’s Attorney Ron Morris, who is serving as the case’s special prosecutor, said Thursday afternoon that the matter was postponed due to a scheduling conflict.
Two court dates in May, one in March, and one in February have all been continued, according to court records. The March case was continued due to a health concern with Martin’s first attorney.

You have to give it to old Dave. Hes wearing the system down. If he gets this thing contiued a few more times the statue of limitations will probably run out. Just joking about statue of limitations but this is really funny. How much longer is the justice system going to allow itself to be abused like this. Give the guy his day in court and them get him off the streets so he cant hurt any one else.
