A Culpeper woman faces a felony drug charge following a traffic stop in town Friday.
Sarah Ann Spriggs, 26, of the 15000 block of Johnson Road, was charged with possession with the intent to distribute cocaine.
According to town spokesman Wally Bunker, Officer Lonnie Myers spotted a 2003 Chevy four-door sedan “acting suspiciously” near the corner of Old Brandy Road and East Piedmont Street around 9:15 p.m.
After receiving consent to conduct a search, Myers found “chunks of crack cocaine” and more than $1,200.
Spriggs was released on a $2,000 secured bond. She is scheduled to appear in Culpeper General District Court Oct. 15 at 8:30 a.

If she wasn’t doing the wrong thing, she wouldn’t have to worry about being arrested no matter what suspicious circumstances alerted police. Cocaine is illegal, no matter how much it is or how many rocks there were. No drugs, no arrest, simple solution. When are people going to accept responsibility for their actions?? Oh, that’s right, we have to blame it on somebody else!!

I wish that sometime we’d hear a little more specificity about what constitutes “acting suspiciously”. Why would a person consent to have their car searched if they know they have contraband. Makes one wonder how many of these “consents” were not exactly consents. And how much “chunks” of cocaine was it? How much constitutes “intent to distribute”?
