Boy, 17, arrested in home invasion

Culpeper County sheriff’s deputies arrested a 17-year-old Culpeper boy Sunday morning on charges of breaking and entering, then threatening the homeowner with a knife.

According to Sgt. Jim Fox, the incident occurred in the 5000 block of Riverbend Lane in Reva; the homeowner heard noises and found the intruder in his garage.

After a brief struggle, the suspect allegedly pulled a knife from his pocket and threatened the homeowner before fleeing on foot. Deputy Chris Tash arrived on scene and, with the assistance of his K-9, located the suspect at a nearby residence.

The boy was identified and charged with breaking and entering to commit a felony, attempted malicious wounding, two counts of resisting arrest and obstruction of justice (all felonies) and carrying a concealed weapon, a misdemeanor.

Juvenile probation detained the boy, who will appear in court Tuesday. His name has not been released because he is a minor.

well i have to be half and half about it im in love with him..i know what he did was worng and i do hope he gets what he did was really messed up but it always kils me because i dont know whats going on. yes he made a big mistake and hes gonna pay for it but...hes all i have in my life and i just wish i new what was going on. if he had picked up the phone and called me he would have never done this. i just hope him being in jail makes him see what he did was wrong and i hope he learns from this. But i still wanna kno whats going on with him and what hes thinking. I honestly dont kno how to feel about the whole thing. i have never got in any kind of troulbe like this in my life and i wouldnt know how to deal with it if i did..im an A honor roll student..most of the time if i had saw something like this i would right away say he needs to be locked up for life but with the fact that he is my boy friend and we have been dating for almost and year now makes me confused...i kno the fact that he was going through a hard time does not justify what he did but its all nevre racking for me. I just wish i could have stopped him. i talked to him the night before and he sounded fine. we were gonna be together that day and when i didnt get a call from him i was worried so i called him friend and he friend told me...all i could think is if i hadnt got off the phone with him he wouldnt have done this and he would be laying right next to me now..i just miss my baby thats all

Lots of bad things happen to lots of people. He can’t use that excuse the rest of his life. He made a DECISION to break into someones home and pull a knife on them. His mother or father being in jail, honestly, should have no bearing in this case and I hope the judge feels the same.

As a I child I stubbed my toe. Does that mean I should go around kicking people when I get older? Kids need to learn to be held accountable for their actions, regardless of what did or did not happen to them in the past. There’s no “half half” about it.

yea i totally understand what you are saying and thinking about it you are 100% right but he came from a really bad back ground..his mom was in jail for almost all his life and his dad was in jail for all his life...im kinda half and half about it....so i dont kno what to think....i just wish he had picked up the phone before he had done this i would have talked him out of it.

Sorry to say hsibabygurl17 but your boyfriend deserves what’s coming to him. Kids these days get too many breaks in my opinion. A slap on the hand and a “better try next time” ain’t gonna cut it. You break into someones home, you pull a knife on them, you go to jail. Period.

That boy is my boyfriend and hes really not a bad kid he just needs 2 get hi shead straight..If any one hears anything please let me know...Im sorry for what he did he had no right 2..but im still worried about him.

Go figure, I move out of town to a small community and this kind of crap follows me right to my neighborhood. Great!
