Culpeper police released surveillance photos in a plea for the public’s help in identifying a man they say broke into Carter Bank & Trust early Tuesday morning.

The bank is located at 806 Nottingham Road across from Culpeper Town Square.

An employee notified police about the crime at 6:48 a.m.

When officers arrived, they discovered signs of forced entry.

According to the report, the bank had been ransacked.

The man is described as a black male, wearing a hoodie.

He apparently entered the building about 1:10 a.m., according to the surveillance tape and police reports.

“At this point, nothing was taken,” said Lt. Chris Settle. “No money is missing.”

This crime is still under investigation as detectives look through additional tapes to identify the man.

Still photos show a man behind the counter peering into a teller’s open drawer.

The bank was open for business on Tuesday.

Police are offering a reward to anyone with information identifying the suspect.

The manager was unsure if the bank is offering any reward.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Sgt. Andrew Terrill at 727-3444 ext. 511 or Culpeper Crime Solvers anonymously at 727-0300, where you never have to give your name or testify in court to receive a cash reward.
