Deputies have arrested a 56-year-old man in connection with a Saturday night shooting in northern Culpeper County.
Charlie H. Pistole, of the 10600 block of Jones Lane, was arrested Tuesday on two outstanding warrants, Sheriff’s Office spokesman Sgt. Jim Fox said.
Pistole is charged with malicious wounding and unclassified felony use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. He is being held without bond and is set to appear in court July 23.
The victim was airlifted to Inova Fairfax Hospital, where he remained Wednesday afternoon, Fox said. His condition was not available.
Initial reports indicated that Pistole had been hospitalized due to injuries sustained during the shooting. However, Fox said Pistole was actually suffering from an unspecified illness and that his condition was not related to the shooting. Pistole was released from Culpeper Regional Hospital Tuesday.
According to police, the incident began when deputies were called to Pistole’s home, off Eggbornsville Road, around 9:15 p.m. There, they found an unidentified 45-year-old male victim suffering from gunshot wounds.
Fox said Pistole was also at the scene and is suspected of shooting the man with a handgun.
