The Culpeper Volunteer Fire Department was called to a fire at Culpeper Wrecker and Salvage on Old Fredericksburg Road at about 6:30 p.m. Thursday. The burned out shell of a recreation vehicle is all that remained after the blaze that sent smoke high into the air above downtown Culpeper. Officials said employees at the salvage yard had been using a torch and other tools to cut items on the RV during the work day, which may have caused the fire. No one was injured in the fire, but the vehicle was reduced to metal and a car that had been parked close by was also burned.
