CULPEPER – Most Central Virginia roads that were closed by high water over the weekend have reopened to travel. Culpeper and Fauquier counties continue to report several roads covered with water as well as at least one that was washed out by the water and will require repair before it can be reopened.

Crews from the Virginia Department of Transportation will continue to work on Tuesday to survey and repair roads that were damaged by the surging floodwaters. Most of the remaining roads are expected to reopen sometime today, although any that suffered damage from the water will remain closed until they can be inspected to ensure their safety and repairs, if necessary, are made. The following roads are reported closed at this hour:

Culpeper County

Route 628 between Routes 640 and 611

Route 677 between Route 676 and the dead end

Fauquier County

Route 603

Route 628 between Route 55 and the railroad tracks

Route 651 between Routes 655 and 1201

Route 655 from Sumerduck Road to Lucky Hill Road

Route 681 between Routes 689 and 691 and at the intersection of Route 802

Route 719 is washed out and will be closed until repairs are made
