Students often watch the weather in the winter for a hint that snow may give them an unexpected vacation day, but Monday morning it was the rain that created a longer than expected Spring weekend.
Due to flooding in parts of the county and continued threat of severe weather, Culpeper County Public Schools officials announced that schools would be closed today.
Twelve-month employees were asked to report on time.
The School Board meeting set for 7 p.m. at the County Administration Building, 302 N. Main Street, will still be held.
AP examinations scheduled for today are not affected by the school cancellation.
