The Rappahannock-Rapidan Community Services Board offers a variety of services, listed below, to seniors in Culpeper and surrounding counties.
- The Culpeper Nutrition Site, at 710 U.S. Ave., provides balanced meals to those age 60 and older from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Additional nutrition sites are located in each of the four surrounding counties.
- The Area Agency on Aging provides information for seniors. A board-provided van service transports seniors to the nutrition site, shopping areas and medical appointments.
- Advocacy services are provided to help identify needs among older persons and find resources to meet needs. Advocates provide assistance with public benefits and help with post-hospitalization plans. Trained aides may assist with tasks to enable seniors to remain in their own homes.
- The "Voice of Experience" newsletter is published every other month by the board to inform older persons of local issues and events of interest.
- The board supports the Retired Senior Volunteer Program, which provides volunteers to assist a variety of community organizations and programs for the aging. Lola Walker is the representative for Culpeper's RSVP program.
- Emergency services are offered in the form of small, one-time grants to assist seniors with emergency needs.
- Adult day care is provided with daytime assistance to older persons suffering from Alzheimer's disease and related disorders at the Shadow Lawn Senior Center in Warrenton.
- The Job Training Partnership Act provides funding to help train and place low-income persons age 55 and older in competitive employment. Title V provides subsidized employment for low-income persons age 55 and older.
