The Museum of Culpeper History hosts the first annual “Holiday Tour of Homes” and all the halls will be decked out in Christmas finery! The Tour is on Dec. 6 from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and is composed of several fun-filled activities, many of which are just a stroll away from the downtown historic district. Walk or take the trolley (included in ticket price) along the tree-lined avenue, and enjoy the sights and sounds of Christmas.

The “Tour of Homes” is along historic S. East Street, a nationally designated historic district in Culpeper. Six homes, including one that General A.P. Hill resided in (The Hill House), a restored Victorian vernacular (the Ruf Residence), a newly constructed Carriage House (at the Ludwig residence), Fountain Hill B&B, the historic Guinn House, and the Victorian residence of the Granillo family are all along South East Street. An added bonus right down the street is the “Burgandine House,” considered the oldest residence in Culpeper (on the Museum’s grounds), which will be outfitted with Colonial re-enactors in a tavern setting. Finally, there’s “Junior” Baker’s barn-turned-home six miles south of town on Route 29 — all this adds up to a very special touring treat for the holidays. Music, singing, and re-enactors will enhance the holiday fun at each house. Rain, snow, or shine!

Advance tickets will go on sale Nov. 1 at the Museum and in a variety of businesses in Culpeper. Tickets will be $15 before Dec. 4, and $20 the day of the Tour (and available at the Museum, the Culpeper Depot and at each home). Children are welcome. Call Museum at 829-1749.
