Madison County Rescue Squad, Madison, is having a bluegrass concert starting at 3 p.m. in the Madison County High School auditorium. Cost $12 in advance, $15 at door. Tickets available at Jones Auto Parts, Madison, The Music Store, Ruckersville, Steve Grayson, 948-6914.
Culpeper Downtown Holiday Open House will be from noon to 5 p.m. with community tree lighting at 5:30 p.m. Be sure to stop by and enjoy trolley rides, pictures with Santa, Children’s Story Time by Culpeper County Library, Museum of Culpeper History Open House, Toys for Tots campaign, live music and re-enactors, Children’s Shopping Market, Culpeper Garden Club, Windmore Gallery Open House at the Creamery. Reformation Lutheran Church has something for everyone at the Downtown Open House . Bring the kids for a live puppet show at 1:30, 2:30, and 3:30 p.m. Ride the trolley from the Depot right after the Kids Story Time. Enjoy live Jazz from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Call 825-1376.
The Culpeper Garden Club will sell English boxwood wreaths, table centerpieces and boxwood trees during the CRI open house from noon to 5 p.m. on East Davis Street at the Hazel River Armory. Proceeds will be used for civic projects as well as a projected donation to Salubria for restoration of its gardens and house. There will also be a childrens market with all items priced $5 or under. A local author, Susan McCorkindale, will be doing a book signing at Pepperberries during the Downtown Holiday Open House from 2 to 4 p.m. Susan is the author of the recently published, “Confessions of a Counterfeit Farm Girl.”

Culpeper County Department of Social Services is still accepting fuel applications to help needy families and individuals keep warm this winter. The deadline date for applications has been extended to Dec. 1. Applications can be picked up at Culpeper Department Social Services, 219 East David Street, Suite 100, Culpeper. Culpeper Colonnade Hair Cuttery in the Target Shopping Center, is doing a food drive for Manna Ministries which is a program that feeds the hungry two days a week and then sends them home with a bag of groceries. Between now and Dec. 20, for every customer that brings in at least five non-perishable food items, they will receive $2 off of a haircut and $5 off of a chemical service. Call 727-0557.
Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, 12714 Elk Run Road, Midland, announces its Thanksgiving Fellowship dinner will be at 5 p.m. at Liberty High School. We need volunteers to help with set-up and clean-up. Sign up sheets are on the tables inside both entry doors. We ask each family to bring a covered dish, dessert, and beverage. We are still collecting Campbell’s product UPC’s. Qualifying product information is posted on the bulletin board outside the library. Collection boxes are located on the tables by both entry doors.
Oak Shade United Methodist Church, Route 229 N., Rixeyville, invites the public to join us for our Sunday worship service beginning at 10 a.m. The Rev. Barbara Jamieson’s message will be, “Stay In Love With God.” Scripture from Psalm 105:4.

Mount Calvary Baptist Church, Haywood, announces a surprise anniversary service at 3 p.m. Pastor Ludwell Brown Sr. will preach the morning service, with lunch afterwards. Afternoon celebration will be by various choirs and singers. Join us for this very special occasion.

St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church will be holding a special service at 11 a.m. to dedicate the “Six Days of Creation” wall mural, in the town parking lot at the corner of Davis Street. and Commerce Street, at the mural. Bishop Lee will be present at the dedication. Join us for this special day and to help us recognize the talented artists who created this wall.
Culpeper United Methodist Church, 1233 Oaklawn Drive, welcomes all to our Sunday morning services and Sunday school. We have a traditional service at 8 a.m., a contemporary service at 9:29 a.m., and a choir led traditional service at 11 a.m. This Sunday, Pastor Randy Orndorff will be talking about “The Commitment of a generous Heart,” scripture from II Corinthians 8:1-15; 9:6-8.
