It’s time to walk for Healthy Babies! 2008 Culpeper March for Babies will be held Sept. 28 at 2 p.m. at Yowell Meadow Park. Virginia Wine Festival, Sept. 27 and 28: Unicorn Winery, 489 Old Bridge Road, Amissville, will present the Herd of Wines during the two-day Festival at Prince William Fairground in Manassas. For more information call 349-5885. 

Flu shots will be available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Oct. 28 at Germanna Community College’s Joseph R. Daniel Technology Center in Culpeper. Most major insurance will be accepted. Without insurance, the cost of the flu shot is $30. To preregister from now through Oct. 20, or for additional information, call 423-9058.

Dexter’s Team invite you to join them Sept. 29 for the Dexter’s Team Golf Tournament at Evergreen Country Club, limited to 144 golfers, (36 teams of 4). After School Art Classes are free!  The Healthy Culpeper After School Art Program is offering fall classes for middle and high school age starting Sept. 30! Culpeper Minute Men Chapter of the NSDAR will meet Oct. 11 at Lake of the Woods Clubhouse, Locust Grove, at 9:30 a.m. for a brunch. Special guest speaker will be Eric Grundset, DAR library director. Book Store: Friends of the Culpeper County Library Used Book Store is open Tuesdays from 4 to 6 p.m. in the library.

Hair It Is, 9376 Mountain Run Lake Road, Culpeper, announces October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which is why now through Oct. 31 you can donate $10 to the National Breast Cancer Foundation and receive a free pink hair extension to wear to show your support! Call 547-9194.

Families First is offering classes for parents and caregivers of children under the age of five at Culpeper Regional Hospital conference room 3-week sessions, starting Oct. 1, 8, and 15 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The cost is $15 (cash only) charge for textbook (required). Free Lunch on Wednesdays: The Manna Ministry is serving a free lunch on Wednesdays at Culpeper Presbyterian Church in the new fellowship hall building from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Silver Citizens Club: Culpeper County Parks and Recreation’s Silver Citizens Club meets every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Culpeper County Library.

Health Care Ministries of Culpeper United Methodist Church, Culpeper Regional Hospital, and Culpeper Medical Associates announce its annual Diabetes Health Fair will be held Oct. 2, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Culpeper United Methodist Church. Our guest speaker will be Dr. L. Trice Gravatte, IV. To gain entrance bring a can of food which will be donated to a local food bank.

PACE is holding our monthly homeschool support group meeting Oct.r 2 at 7 p.m. at the Culpeper United Methodist Church, 1233 Oaklawn Drive, Culpeper. We are privileged to have Charlotte Knighting of the Homeschool Shop as our guest speaker.  Charlotte’s topic is “Writing Across the Grades,” exploring tips to teach writing to children from 1 to 12 grade. Culpeper County Library offers two walk-in story times for children. Both programs are free and do not require registration: Bedtime Story time is a family event held every Tuesday at 7 p.m. The themes for upcoming Bedtime story times are: Oct. 7, “Is There a Good Book in the House?”

The Gordonsville Volunteer Fire Company Auxiliary is once again sponsoring the Gordonsville annual Street Festival. This year’s festival will be held on Oct. 4 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. rain or shine. Main Street Gordonsville will be closed so over 100 booths of food, raffles, crafts and more can setup. Spaces are available for rent. For more information call 832-7374.

Bereaved Parent Support Group: If you are mourning the loss of a child due to any circumstance, the Spiritual Care Support Ministry Center is here to offer you comfort and hope through God’s word.
