A reader contacted us to say, "I loved the house that was remodeled at 509 S. West Street. The deep red color is so warm, colorful and 'Southernly.' Beautiful job, and it's absolutely lovely." If you're on West Street you might want to check it out.

Happy first Anniversary to Persimmon Consignment Boutique at Southgate Shopping Center. It was a successful first year for co-owners Markey Willis and Mary Gayheart.
The Town of Culpeper will not make any refuse pickups on Memorial Day. Monday's usual collections will be picked up with Tuesday's. Please remember that carts need to be set out by 6:30 a.m. on your day of collection.
Culpeper Cruisers will host its fifth annual car and truck show today from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Dominion Skating Rink. Don't forget they are cruisin' at Arbys Restaurant in Culpeper from 5 to 9 p.m. every Friday night through October.
Don't forget the annual Memorial Day Service at Culpeper National Cemetery will be held at 11 a.m.
Country Cookin is offering free meals to all military personnel on Memorial Day at any of their 16 restaurants. The offer applies to active, reserve, and retired military personnel who can show proper military ID.
There will be a free lecture by Bob Lapidus on "Southern Enigma: The Unwavering Unionism of John Minor Botts, 1802-1869 today on the lawn under the old oak trees at Auburn plantation, near Brandy Station at 2 p.m. Donations will be welcomed and used for operation of the Graffiti House.
