Barefoot Puppets will be spinning into the Culpeper County Library for a fun-filled puppet show!

Come meet Anansi the spider and all his friends in this high energy show!  You will be surprised at Anansi’s sneaky ways! July 24 at 10:30 a.m., 2:30 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Windmore’s Children’s Theater presents, “The Pirates of Penzance, Jr.” and “On the Radio,” July 24, 25, and 26 at 7 p.m. each evening.

If you’re looking for a fun and entertaining evening be sure to attend the energetic performances of approximately 70 children under the co-direction of Jeff and Doray Walker, in the Forum at Culpeper Middle School. Costumes and the set will make it all come to life!

July 25
Marvin Pearson fundraiser will be held July 25 from 6 to 10 p.m. at The Link (Old Schoohouse building), Sperryville. Tickets are being sold for $20, children 5 and under are free. Dinner is spaghetti, salad, bread and sides and there will free non- alcoholic beverages also. 

The event will be a dinner/silent auction and DJ music.  Reservations are suggested. All proceeds go to the Marvin Pearson Fund. Also, monetary contributions can be sent to: Fauquier Bank, Marvin Pearson Fund Attn: Retail, P.O. Box 561, Warrenton, VA 20188-9868. For information call 987-9507.

Graffiti House, 19484 Brandy Road, Brandy Station, has released the dates of upcoming events: July 26, Battlefield Tour including Beverly Ford and St. James Church. An Indoor Flea Market fundraiser will be held July 26, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Depot in Culpeper.

There will be raffle, cake walk, flea market and much more. The proceeds will go for Laci Bragg, a baby girl with cancer. For more information call 937-5711.

The 18th annual Dwyer Family Reunion will be held on July 26 beginning at 10 a.m. at the fire hall in Washington, Va.  Bring a dish and or drink to share.

Karaoke at the American Legion Post, Route 229, 1/2 mile north of Culpeper County High School on the left. Karaoke provided by Doug Price Entertainment from Richmond, on July 26 at 8 p.m. The public is invited and this is for all ages.

There will be a contest for the best singer with prizes awarded or just come out and sing for fun. Food and beverages available. Admission will be $5; $10 contest entry fee (you need not enter the contest to sing).

Sprint Triathlon Training six- week program will be held each Saturday through Aug. 2. Training is for men and women. This class will culminate with the Aug. 3 Sprint Triathlon at Mountain Run Lake. All ability levels are welcome! Training times are: Saturdays, 8 a.m. at varying locations around Culpeper; Tuesdays, 5:30 p.m. at Powell Wellness Center. Culpeper County Library announces that on July 26 at 2 p.m., local author Blaine Pardoe will talk about his most recently published book, “Terror of the Autumn Skies,” the story of Frank Luke Jr., the balloon buster from Arizona.

Pardoe, who lives in Amissville, was born in Newport News and raised in Battle Creek, Mich. He is a 1985 graduate of Central Michigan University and began his writing career there where he wrote for the school’s award-winning newspaper.

The talk is free and the public is invited. Join us in the meeting room.

Great Falls Group of the Sierra Club invites everyone on July 26, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. to “Take the Family Outdoors for Birds, Butterflies, Picnic and Organic Farm Tour.”

Cub Scout Pack 1105 will be having a community yard sale and carwash on July 26 from 8 a.m. to noon at Cedar Lee Middle School grounds, Bealeton.
Spaces for yard sale will be $20, you keep your sale profits.

Blooming Trash — Interested in making trash into art? Megan Hicks will be at the Culpeper County Library at 2 p.m. to show you how you can make a soda bottle into amazing flowers!  It is part of the Summer Reading Program. Take part in the workshop and find another way to recycle! The event is free, but space is limited, so please register.  It’s for teens only.  Fore information call 825-8691.

A support group for the chronically ill meets every Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Fauquier Hospital Bistro Restaurant. This is a weekly opportunity to come together for food, fellowship, and encouragement.

Brandy Station Volunteer Firemen’s annual fair and fundraiser begins July 30 and runs through Aug. 2. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights at 6 p.m. On Saturday at 1 p.m. Carnival ride specials each night and during Saturday matinee.  Live music on Friday and Saturday nights. Craft Day at the Culpeper County Library: Come make a Butterfly Metamorphosis Craft and “Buzz the Bottle Bug” during our craft day for kids who have completed grades K-2 from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Culpeper County Library. Saturday, August 2

The Nibblins Family Get-Together Gathering (Reunion) will be held on Saturday, August 2, at the American Legion Hall in Culpeper beginning at noon.  Please come early to take part in the family gathering and activities. 

Family Fun Fair - games, food, prizes - on Saturday, August 2, from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at DayBreak Adult Day Health Care Center, RRCSB-AAA, 13820 Eggbornsville Road, Route 729, Culpeper. All proceeds will benefit DayBreak Adult Day Healhcare Center. For more information call 727-7073 or .

The Lignum Ruritan Club will have a Shrimp dinner on Saturday August 2.  It will be held at the Lignum Ruritan building, about 10 miles east of Culpeper on Lignum Road just off Route 3, 20489 Gibson Lane, Lignum from 5 to 7 p.m. The menu consists of spiced steamed shrimp, steamed shrimp, baked beans, coleslaw, rolls and beverage.

There will be hot dogs available for children. Childbirth Preparation Class at the Family Birth Center at Culpeper Regional Hospi-tal.  The class will help prepare the expectant mother for the birthing experience, including re-laxation and breathing techniques. The class is taught by FBC Certified Childbirth Instructors.  Choose from a weekend series August 2 and 3 or September 6 and 7 or a weeknight series October 22, 29, November 5 and 12.  Cost is $85 per couple. Dog Show Saturday, August 2, at 3 p.m. For kid’s of all ages! Presented by Grooming by JoAnn, 16012 Auburn Road, Culpeper. $5 entry fee. Profit to go to the Culpeper Animal Shelter. There will be classes for Conformation, presentation of handler and dog; Obedience, sit, stay, come, down; Trick’s, any safe trick; Costume, have some fun dress up the dog and handler.
