VFW Auxiliary meeting will be held July 17 at 2 p.m., at the VFW Post on Sperryville Pike. This is the first meeting for the year 2008-2009. All members are invited. Information call President Maude Taylor, 825-2405.
Eastern View’s Sports Boosters will have a meeting at 7 p.m. at Eastern View High School.

The Jefferson Ruritan Club is in need of donated yard sale items for its Aug. 16 yard sale at the Jeffersonton Community Center. Pick-up service is available for donations of larger items for the yard sale. Indoor or outdoor yard/craft sale spaces are available for anyone who wishes to participate. The Jefferson Ruritan Club is a local community service organization. Proceeds go to scholarships, local public service organizations and other very worthwhile charitable causes. The Red Cross will be conducting CPR course offered at Blue Ridge Center for Environmental Stewardship, 11661 Harpers Ferry Road, Purcellville. Pre-registration is required. The Culpeper Garden Club will meet on July 17 at the Culpeper United Methodist Church at 2 p.m. Grace Morris will present the program entitled, “Creative Design.” Hosting this meeting will be Linda Taylor, Dr. Jackson Payne and Jack Trimpin. Members are reminded that the Horticulture division will consists of Phlox, Gladiola, Vegetable while the Design Division will be “Celebration”, any type of design using all fresh plant material; and “Patriotism,” Spatial Thrust Design using fresh plant material. Cub Scout Pack 1105 will be having a community yard sale and car wash on July 26 from 8 a.m. to noon at Cedar Lee Middle School grounds, Bealeton. Spaces for yard sale will be $20, you keep your sale profits. We will be grilling and selling hot dogs with chips, water and lemonade (from a scout lemonade stand). The Bluemont Concert Series is proud to present Pan Masters July 18 for the second of six Friday evening concerts in Culpeper. All Friday evening concerts begin at 7:30 p.m. on the Old County Courthouse lawn at West Davis Street in downtown historic Culpeper. This concert is made possible by the Inn at Kelly’s Ford. Admission is $5 per person, $4 for Bluemont Friends and seniors, $2 for kids under 12; proceeds go to support our Artist-in-Education program in Culpeper schools. In bad weather, concerts are held indoors at The Train Depot at 113 Commerce Street.

Southern ladies, Confederate veterans, and men in funny hats – all of this, and more, will be on hand for visitors to the Museum of Culpeper History July 19 and 20. On Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the museum; different part of the Museum, Nancy Graham will present a “Southern lady” of the Civil War era. On Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m., the group will present living history as Confederate soldiers while they illuminate their experiences during the Civil War. The weekend is free. There will be an all-you-can-eat benefit dinner for Dillon Kincaid July 19 from 4 to 7 at Mine Run Fire Department. Cost of tickets is $15 for adults and $5 for children 6-12.
