STAFFORD - Local National Honors Society students volunteered to host a show at Ebenezer United Methodist Church on Saturday in Stafford. The host and organizer of this event, Kaitlyn Arndt, is a sophomore at Colonial Forge High School in Stafford.

Acts that played were East on Orange, The Byzantines, and Beyond the Static. If you didn't attend, you missed out on some of the best local bands our region has to offer!

Chaz, Josh, Justin, and Matt played a great set. East on Orange was a crowd favorite with pleased fans shouting for them to play the song, "Roman Catholic," which speaks of hope and the need for something greater that yourself. The group boasts a unique sound that can't be placed into any single genre. Check them out at eastonorange.com. East on Orange's front man, Josh, was crowned "King of Scene" by Kaitlyn
After East on Orange, the Byzantines played. They say on their MySpace, that the group "formed for one reason and one reason only... to change the world. But when they realized how unrealistic that goal was, they decided to just change the music industry."

With their popish sound, it doesn't seem like there's much changing, though. Sounding like something fresh out of the Beach Boy's days, the Byzantines are charming. The last minute bass replacement for the show, Clifton, definitely rocked the stage. Jon, Alden, and Clifton made for a good time. Find out more at myspace.com/thebyzantines.

When the Byzantines were done, Beyond the Static overpowered the stage. With the vocals close to Paramore and Taking Back Sunday, Beyond the Static played an impressive show. Leading lady Mary was an impressive vocalist, the whole band proved to be an amazing act. The crowd sang along and really got into the high-energy spirit that BTS has. This crowd-pleasing band can be found at myspace.com/beyondthestatic.

Be sure to attend the Battle of the Bands at TT Reynolds, 10414 Main St. in Fairfax Saturday from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. East on Orange will be there, along with Defy, The Dirty Jenkins, Fine One-Pierre, Subliminal Cruelity, Almost Human and Remote Rebel Radio. It's for fans ages18-plus. Buy tickets online for $7 at anthemevents.com to support your band before the concert.
