The Humane Society of Culpeper's annual yard sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Culpeper United Methodist Church. Call 727-7554 to make arrangements for office drop offs. Early drop offs from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. the day of the event.

Madison County Habitat for Humanity will conduct their annual Walk-a-thon starting from the American Legion Hall in Madison. Along with the Walk-a-thon, Madison Habitat will be holding it's first Family Fun Day, also at the American Legion Hall and grounds, featuring all kinds of games and contests; barbecued chicken by Yoders; and crafts, bake sales, flea markets, and home made ice cream provided by various community churches. Care Café is open every Thursday 10 a.m. until noon. It's a place for those who are discouraged from illness, bereavement, care-giving or a family member of a loved one deployed in the military. The Culpeper County Democratic Committee will be showing the Oscar-winning documentary, "An Inconvenient Truth," on at 7 p.m. at The Depot. Afterward, Dan Holmes, Orange County Field Representative for the Piedmont Environmental Council will briefly discuss the impact of global warming in Virginia.

KIDS SAFE: Protecting Your Children from Predators, a free community event sponsored by the Culpeper Task Force on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault will take place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Galbreath-Marshall Building (Old Fredericksburg Road). Pizza and refreshments will be provided. Agenda will include information provided by the Virginia Ste Police, the Commonwealth Attorney's Office, the Department of Social "Services, Victim/Witness, and SAVVI Crisis Center. If free childcare for pre-school and school-aged children is needed call 825-8891 by April 24 to confirm your attendance. If no childcare needed, no RSVP is needed.

Richardsville VFD and Rescue will hold a Henn and Longaberger basket bingo with doors opening at 5:30 p.m., bingo starts at 6:30 p.m. Food will be sold. Tickets in advance are $15, at the door $20. All proceeds benefit RVFD. To reserve advance tickets or for more information call 399-1122.

The Jefferson Ruritan Club will host a Poor Man's Dinner (AKA after taxes dinner) to benefit the Little Fork Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad. The dinner will be held at the Jeffersonton Community Center from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The menu features soup, corn bread, greens, beverage and dessert. This year's annual "For A Child's Health" celebration the ninth is set for April 28, from 1 to 4 p.m., at the Culpeper County Library, located at the Southgate Shopping Center. There will be entertainment through out the afternoon. There is no charge for admission, and all of the information/education and most of the services are free. Meanwhile, automobile safety seats will be inspected at no charge and qualified law enforcement personnel will educate motorists in properly installing them. Motorists are encouraged to bring the child for this purpose. Among the participating agencies will be Families First, Culpeper Regional Hospital, Rappahannock Electric Cooperative, Virginia Cooperative Extension, Culpeper Parks and Recreation, S.A.F.E., Culpeper County Schools, Culpeper County Sheriff's Department, Culpeper Town Police, Headstart, Welcome Waggers, Culpeper County Child Care and more.
