Aug. 7
Hazel River Assembly of God, Rixeyville, announces each Friday night it will have “Friday Night Out.” We invite all teenagers from grades 6 to 12 to come every Friday night from 3 to 9 p.m. For teens only. There will be free dinner provided. Call 937-6041.

Culpeper United Methodist Church, 1233 Oaklawn Drive, announces “Summer under the Oaks” — gathering time is Thursdays at noon to accommodate those who work in town and would like to participate. Join us in discussing the past Sunday’s sermon. Bring chair or blanket and brown bag lunch and we’ll meet around 5 to 10 minutes after noon. Also, “Senior Moments,” currently meets in the community room, every Thursday from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Call 825-0764 for details.

Women in Worship Conference 2008: Registration is now open for the third Women in Worship Conference to be held at the Hospitality House and Conference Center in Fredericksburg, on Sept. 26-27, sponsored by Wayland Blue Ridge Women’s Auxiliary and Friends. The early bird registration is still open. The conference check-in on Friday begins at 10 a.m. and the expo with vendors and mini-informational sessions begins at noon. The guest speaker is Cynthia Brazelton, Victory Christian Ministries, Washington, D.C. and vicinity, also the Rev. Tammie Armstread Pulliam and the Rev. Janice Steels, Victory in Christ Ministries. Musical guests include Missy “Octavia” Yates and Psalmist Eric Armstead. Aug. 8
There will be a gospel sing at Abundant Life Christian Fellowship in Orange featuring Blood Connection from North Carolina and a variety of others at 6 p.m. Call 854-7433 or 672-9867.

Aug. 9
Shiloh Baptist Church, Brandy Station will have a back-to-school jam on Aug. 9 at noon. There will be school supply, games, hotdogs, hamburger for school children of all ages.

Antioch Baptist Church, 202 South West Street, Culpeper, invites the public to its annual back-to-school event on Aug. 9, starting at 10 a.m. Join us for brunch. Several local role models and speakers will be on hand to answer questions. School supplies will be given to each student in attendance.

Culpeper Baptist Church’s Saturday night service, “Overflow,” will be held in the church sanctuary beginning at 6 p.m., and will feature contemporary worship with praise music and a time of fellowship. The Sunday morning contemporary service begins at 8:30 and a traditional worship begins at 11 a.m. Call the church office at 825-8192 for more information.

Mount Lebanon Baptist will host an evening of gospel music by Michael Hoover at the Reva Fire Hall, 18230 Birmingham Road, Reva at 7 p.m. The evening will begin the with the 175th anniversary celebration of Mount Lebanon Baptist Church. Mr. Hoover will present the gospel portion of his “Memories of Elvis” tour, singing Elvis’ gospel music. General seating will be honored on a first come basis, door open at 6 p.m. A love offering will be taken.

Aug. 10
Hazel River Assembly of God Church, Rixeyville, invites the public on Aug. 10 at 8:30 and 10 a.m. when they will present a special patriotic drama, honoring our country, public servants, members of our Armed Forces and veterans. The presentation is entitled, “God’s Hand on America,” an original one-man play, with patriotic music, written and performed by Tim Wead.

Spotswood Baptist Church, 4009 Lafayette Blvd, Fredericksburg, invites the public to a concert on Aug. 10 starting at 6 p.m. with doors opening at 5 p.m. Featured will be “This Hope” ministry through music. Main Uno Baptist Church, Madison with Pastor Darnell Lundy, announces its homecoming service will be held Aug. 10 with special guest Jesse Jones of Oak Shade Baptist Church, Catlett. Oak Shade United Methodist Church, Route 229 North, Rixevyille, invites the public to join us for our Sunday worship beginning at 10 a.m. The Rev. Sharon Forbes’ message will be, “Seeds and Soil.” Scripture from Matthew 13:1-9, 18-23.

Aug. 10-17
Bethel Baptist Church, 6262 Hoover Road, Reva, will be having revival services starting Aug. 10 at 11 a.m.  Then Sunday through Friday, Aug. 15 at 7 p.m. each evening, and finishing on Aug. 17 at 11 a.m. Guest speaker will be Matt Cook. Aug. 11
Culpeper United Methodist Church, 1233 Oaklawn Drive, announces on Sept. 18 through 21, the “Communicating For Healthy Relationships” conference has been scheduled. Sept. 18 will be a pre-conference date for couples called “Building Healthy Marriages.” Registration will begin soon.

Aug. 12
Hazel River Assembly of God in Rixyeville, invites the public to bring your kids for a night of fun. Hazel River Kids Ministry will watch your kids, ages 4-11 for free every Tuesday night from 5 to 8 p.m. in our activities center. We provide dinner, games and lots of fun activities in a safe environment. For more information call 937-6041.

Aug. 12-15
The Wayland Blue Ridge Baptist Association, Inc. will hold its 119th Annual Session, Aug. 12 to 15, at the Wayland Blue Ridge Baptist Center, 15044 Ryland Chapel Road, Rixeyville.  The sessions begin at 9:30 a.m. each morning.  Lunch may be purchased onsite for a nominal fee.  Highlights this year include Youth Day on Tuesday featuring a college prep workshop in the afternoon.  There is no fee for the workshop.  Guest preachers include the keynote address on Wednesday by Rev. James Victor, Pastor, Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Arlington, and the missionary sermon to be delivered on Thursday by Rev. Dr. Decker Tabscott, founder and pastor, Faith Christian Church International, Warrenton.  The Rev. James L. Holmes, Culpeper is the Moderator and Minister Patricia A.
