July 17
Culpeper United Methodist Church announce the “Communicating For Healthy Relationships” conference is scheduled for Sept. 18 through 21. Sept. 18 will be a pre-conference date for couples called “Building Healthy Marriages.” Registration will begin soon.

“Golden Friends” - This group is made up of seniors who enjoy having company. If you would like to have some company, join in this group. They are meeting in Room 204 every Tuesday at 10 a.m. Golden Friends are enjoying a Bible study using classic shows from The Beverly Hillbillies.

“The Virginia Tour of Voices of Youth,” a youth choir made up of teens from United Methodist Churches in Virginia, will be in our area this month.  They always have wonderfully professional and deeply spiritual concerts well worth attending.  The schedule includes the near-by sites of: Fairlington UMC, Alexandria, July 22 at 7:30 p.m.; Braddock Street UMC in Winchester, July 23 at 7:30 p.m., and Wilderness Community UMC in Spotsylvania July 24 at 7:30 p.m. 

July 17-19
Prayer Temple Apostolic Church announces the second Sound Doctrine Conference 2008 will be held in Culpeper on July 17 through July 19 starting at 10 a.m. and the nightly service at 7:30 p.m. at Best Western Culpeper Inn. For more information call 202-904-1088.

July 18
Hazel River Assembly of God, Rixeyville, announce each Friday night they have “Friday Night Out.” We invite all teenagers from grade 6 to 12 to come every Friday night from 3 to 9 p.m. for teens only.  Call 937-6041.

July 19
Reformation Church, 415 S. Main Street at Scanlon Street, will be having Men’s Annual Super Sale (yard sale) July 19 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. For more information call 547-2870.

Free Gospel Church of Christ-Apostolic Doctrine, Davis and East Streets, Culpeper, invite the public to our annual Young Christian Women’s Fellowship luncheon on July 19 at noon with guest speaker, Senior Pastor Shirley M. July 19
Canaan Baptist Church, 11494 Shanktown Road, Reva, invites the public to help celebrate our pastor, the Rev. Terry L. Brown’s 14th anniversary on uly 19 at 5 p.m. Our guest will be the Mt. Olive Baptist Church Men’s Chorus; Beulah Baptist Church Eggbornsville Men’s Chorus and Shiloh Baptist Church Brandy Station Men’s Chorus.  Repast will be served immediately following the musical celebration.  To close-out this grand celebration July 20 at 11 a.m. we are delighted to have the dynamic Rev. Steven H. Wiley, retired pastor of St. Stevens Baptist Church Stevensburg.

Culpeper Baptist Church’s Saturday night service, “Overflow,” will be held in the church sanctuary beginning at 6 p.m., and will feature contemporary worship with praise music and a time of fellowship. The Sunday morning contemporary service July 13 begins at 8:30 and a traditional worship begins at 11 a.m. Call the church office at 825-8192 for more information.

July 19-20
Empowered to Reach International Outreach Ministries will be having its pastor and church anniversary on July 19 at 7:30 p.m.  Our guest preacher will be the Pastor Jacob Phillips from White Oak Run Baptist Church. Also, July 20 we will be celebrating pastor Terence D. Johnson’s anniversary. Our guest preacher will be Bishop Michael Jackson from Emmueal Christian Center. Dinner will be served.

July 20
The Ebenezer Baptist Church of Lignum, invites the public to its “Usher’s Annual Day” July 20 at 3 p.m. Our guest will be Rev. Reese Washington, accompanied by his choir and congregation from Shiloh Baptist Church, Brandy. Dinner will be served following morning service. Little Fork United Methodist Church Circuit will be sponsoring a gospel sing and ice cream social July 20 at 6:30 p.m. featuring The Paul Fincham Dark Hollow Band. Come and bring your lawn chair to Woodland Methodist Church on Woodland Church Road, Route 616 off Sperryville Pike.

Jeffersonton United Methodist Church, intersection of routes 621 and 602, Jeffersonton, invites the public to join us for our Sunday worship beginning at 9 a.m. The Rev. Sharon Forbes’ message will be, “The Spirit Prays For Us and Our Future.” Scripture from Romans 8:26-39. You may also hear the sermon at Woodland UMC at 11:15 a.m.

The Bethel Baptist Church family of Mitchells, invites the public to its 137th Church Anniversary celebration. The event will be July 20 during the 11 a.m. morning worship service. The Rev. Marvin Jackson of Bealeton, will bring forth the message. Lunch will be served following the morning service.

Free Union Baptist Church, Culpeper invites the public to help them celebrate Usher’s Day through song and dance. Guest will be the Praise Team and Praise Dancers from New Life Community Baptist Church, Bristow. Service will be held July 20 starting at 3 p.m.  Dinner will be served before service.

The Swift Ford Baptist Church will have its annual “Family and Friend’s Day Service” July 20. The service will begin at 10 a.m. with the Rev. James Bridgett, St. Paul Baptist Church, Front Royal, bringing forth the word. Following service, the fellowship will continue on the grounds of Swift Ford with lots of food and fellowship. 

Oak Shade United Methodist Church, Route 229 North, Rixeyville, invites the public to join us for our Sunday worship beginning at 10 a.m. The Rev. Barbara Jamieson’s message will be, “God’s Spirit.” Scripture from Romans 8:12-17. 

Woodville Baptist Church, 4629 Sperryville Pike, welcomes the public to our Sunday morning service at 11 a.m. The Pastor Ron Poe of Amissville will bring the message. Call 547-3841, Richard Wayland for more information.

Culpeper United Methodist Church, 1233 Oaklawn Drive, welcomes all to our Sunday morning services and Sunday school.  We have traditional services at 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. and a contemporary service at 9:30 a.m. This week’s sermon will be “Offering Them Christ.” Scripture is Luke 4:14-21, and Hebrews 8:10-12. 

July 20-25
Gourdvine Baptist Church, 7103 Eggbornsville Road, Rixeyville, invites the public to its Vacation Bible School starting July 20 through July 25, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. The theme will be “Outrigger Island.” We will be having an adult Bible class too! There will be Bible stories, participate in cool crafts, warm up to motivating music, eat snacks and play games. Call 937-2171.

July 21
St. Stpehens Episcopal Church, Monday, July 21, 7 p.m., Transformation Ministry Weight Loss Session No. 3 — “Keys to Transformation.”

July 21-23

Main Uno Baptist Church, Madison announces it will be having Vacation Bible School for all ages, July 21- 23. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m. Class starting at 7 p.m. Pastor Darnell Lundy invites all ages.

July 21-25
St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 115 N. East Street, Culpeper, announces its Vacation Bible School starts July 21 and continues through July 25. The theme will be “Friendship Trek: Jesus, Our Forever Friend.” There are sign-up sheets located on the parish hall and gathering room bulletins boards and in the office.  Make sure your children or grandchildren are signed-up no later than July 20. We will meet in the gathering room from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. On Thursday, we will meet at 5 p.m. until noon on Friday, since the children will be having a sleepover at church. We invite all children ages 4 through 11 to attend.

The Hopewell Baptist Church, Sperryville, will be having revival services beginning July 21-25, 7:30 p.m. nightly. The Rev. Walter Bryant of Tanners, will be the evangelist for the week. Pastor-elect Gary Brown and congregation welcome all.
