The Culpeper County Library announces its open house/anniversary celebration March 27 from 8 to 9:30 a.m. in the Culpeper County Library. Help celebrate the 10th anniversary in this location and see plans for expansion! There will be light breakfast fare and small giveaway.

Fauquier Hospital announces a joint replacement class will be given March 27 in the Chestnut Room at the Fauquier Hospital, Warrenton at 6 p.m. Speaker will be Dr. David Snyder. Free, registration required. For more information call 316-3588.

Transforming Wounded Hearts, Tuesdays through April 22, 10:30 a.m. to noon, is taught by Sandy for those who want to restore their wounded hearts into wholeness trough Biblical truths and prayer. DivorceCare Support Group, Thursdays, 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. is facilitated by Carol and Dick Jenkins. DivorceCare is a video seminar series and support group for people experiencing the hurt of divorce or separation and features nationally recognized experts on divorce recovery issues teaching on topics such as: "Facing my Anger," "Facing my Loneliness," "Relationships," and more, from a biblical basis. March 28
The Lake of the Woods Square Dance Club will be dancing March 28 at the lower level of the Lake of the Woods Clubhouse, Locust Grove.  Jesse Shackelford will be calling and Ozzie Ostland will be cueing the round dances. This dance is a VASARDA Red, White and Blue Theme Dance (Virginia Square and Round Dance Association).  The dance hours will be from 7:30 to 10 p.m.  LOW Square Dance Club dances at the plus level the second, fourth and fifth Friday of each month.  We invite all square dancers to join us.  For information, please call Handy at 972-5585 or Dionne at 972-6699.

On June 4 — 6, Chapter 1885 of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) at Lake of the Woods is sponsoring a trip to Brandywine Valley. We will visit Longwood Gardens, Harrahs Chester Casino, Chaddsford Winery Estate, Winterthur Gardens and Estate, and Hagley Museum and Garden. The trip will also include a vintage train ride and picnic lunch. The tour package includes roundtrip motor coach transportation, two nights at Brandywine Inn, breakfasts, and admission to all attractions. You do not need to be a member of NARFE to join us. The cost is $387 per person, double occupancy. An initial deposit of $87 received in March will hold your reservation. The remaining payment may be divided and received by April and May 1st. Piedmont Dispute Resolution Center (RDRC) will host a special breakfast to celebrate Mediation Month and the public is invited, from 8 to 10 a.m. at the John Barton Payne building, PDRC will be pouring coffee and serving pastries and fruit. The raffle is a new initiative designed to raise visibility as well as generate funds.  
    
March 28-29-30
Third annual Fredericksburg Home and Garden Show featuring the "Showcase of Gardens" will be held Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, March 28, 29 and 30. March 29
Indoor yard and bake sale Saturday, March 29 from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. at St. Luke's Gym  benefits Relay For Life Cancer Walk and sponsored by Hopewell and Richardsville churches. There will be furniture, household items, toys, clothes, glassware, seasonal decorations, misc. items. For questions call 399-1486.
Richardsville Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue will serve a fried chicken dinner on March 29 from 5 to 7 p.m. Cost of the dinner is $10 for adults, $5 for children 6-11 and children 5 and under eat free. For more information call 399-1122.

The Jeffersonton Baptist Church Relay for Life Team, the Froggies, is sponsoring a spaghetti dinner March 29 at the Jeffersonton Community Center from 5 to 7 p.m. The cost is $10 for adults, $5 for children under 10 years of age. At 7 p.m. there will be a live auction. Numerous items are available for the auction. All proceeds from the dinner and auction will be donated to the American Cancer Society. Virginia Discovery Museum announcing Kid Vention 2008: Discover Our Planet! On Saturday, March 29, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Charlottesville Pavilion. Learn about plants, water, the weather and more! Blue Ridge Animal Hospital and Humane Society of Culpeper will be sponsoring a drive thru Rabies Clinic March 29 at the Culpeper Safeway parking lot in Southgate Shopping Center from 8 to 10 a.m.  Cost $10, cash only.  If dog or cat received rabies shot through the clinic last year, bring the certificate and the animal will get a three-year rabies vaccinination.

March 30
The Humane Society of Culpeper will hold its annual meeting March 30 at 3 p.m. at the Depot, 111 S. Commerce Street, Culpeper. The purpose of the annual meeting is to elect new Board members and to call upon animal lovers and community to get involved in new humane society projects. Refreshments will be served. Hair Quarters, located across from Lake of the Woods in Orange County, will be participating in a cut-a-thon in conjunction with Matrix Hair Care  March 30 from noon to 5 p.m. 100 percent of kids cut proceeds benefit the Elizabeth Glaser pediatric AIDS foundation; 100 percent of proceeds from all adult service benefit the Lee Linthicum family of Culpeper.

Graffiti House in Brandy Station invites the public  to hear "The Music of the Civil War" as performed by Evergreen Shade on March 30, from 2 to 3:15 p.m.. Enjoy old favorites like "Dixie," "Battle Cry of Freedom," "the Bonny Blue Flag," "Just Before the Battle," "Mother," and "The Empty Chair." Free refreshments will be served. The Graffiti House in Brandy Station is known for the outstanding collection of writings and drawings on the walls of the house that were placed there during the Civil War by both Confederate and Federal soldiers. March 30-April 4
The Town of Culpeper Public Works Department will be flushing the hydrants the week of March 30 through April 4 so that water lines may be kept free of corrosive materials. Some discoloration of water is expected, but the condition should be temporary. Should the discoloration be prolonged, please call the Public Works Department at 825-0285.  Hydrants in the south and east parts of Town will be flushed beginning at 10 p.m. on Sunday, March 30 and Monday, March 31; the downtown and west ends of Town beginning at 10 p.m. on Tuesday, April 1 and the north part of Town beginning at 10 p.m. on Wednesday, April 2 and Thursday, April 3. Flushings should be completed by 10 a.m. each day.

Deadline for Culpeper Christian School's Silent and Live Auction on April 12 in their new gymnasium at 810 Old Rixeyville Road is March 31.  Silent auction at 4 p.m.; dinner at 5:30 p.m.; live auction at 6:30 p.m. The event will also include a catered gourmet dinner by Legends of Warrenton.  Tickets are $35 per person.  Paid reservations are required as seating is limited.  Tickets are available at the school office. A support group for the Chronically Ill meets every Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Hospital Bistro Restaurant. This is a weekly opportunity for those who are chronically ill to come fellowship, and encouragement. Together we gain insight as we listen and support each other through Biblical perspective. April 2
Families First is offering classes for parents and caregivers  of children under the age of 5 in the Culpeper Regional Hospital conference room on April 2, 9, 16, May 7, 14, 21, and June 4, 11, 18 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The cost will be $15 (cash only) charge of textbook (required) Sorry no daycare provided! The Culpeper County Library Board will meet April 2 at 7 p.m. in the library conference room. This meeting is open to the public.  A packet with the agenda and supporting documentation is available in the reference area.

April 3

Care Café is open every Thursday from 10 a.m. to noon. It's a place for those who are discouraged from bereavement, care giving or for a family member of a loved one deployed in the military.
